Projects Updates

The primary conservation role undertaken by the NGO has concentrated on lobbying at Government levels, to try to prevent the poaching increasing yet further.

A new project to raise money to fund a patrol boat for the Rufiji River was launched towards the end of 2009. This project would also offer incentives to the Reserve Rangers to catch poachers.

The Great Ruaha River is an ongoing concern. The simple route to preventing the drying up of this river for 3 months a year is politically unacceptable, so the focus of attention remains on creating a dam to store excess water in the rains to release in the dry season, This would have the additional benefit of hydro generation of electricity for the villages.
